600 East Fremont Street
The El Cortez is located just blocks from the busy Fremont Street experience
and Viva Vegas canopy. It is a smaller and older hotel casino with only a two
star rating, however it is also consistently rated very high by consumers in a
number of areas. It is a great place to go for a fun, loose and friendly
atmosphere and some of the best prices Vegas has to offer.
Café Cortez is an American styled restaurant with a casual atmosphere, clean if
aged accommodations and seating, and very friendly service. Some of the items on
the menu include sandwiches, soups, salads and a range of American style dishes.
The food is okay, but excellent if you take into consideration the price.
Seating is simple to find and it is a great place for after hours dining,
especially if you’ve been Downtown drinking for hours on end.
There are conflicting reports when Café Cortez is open, which means it may vary
by how busy it is, but they are listed as either 24/7 or all weekend and 10:30
p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Prices are very affordable, almost
always less than $15 per plate. No reservations.
